Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 16, 1920, based on the four principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood by five coeds at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

 

 

To honor the principle of Scholarship, Sigma Mu Zeta Chapter annually offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have been accepted to institutes of higher education. In September 2018, Ascent Educational Foundation (AEF) was created with its primary purpose being to assist youth in the community prepare for and finance a collegiate education. AEF distinguishes itself by offering scholarships to students attending traditional and non-traditional educational programs. AEF also presents programs to assist students and parents in their transition to secondary education.
 
AEF operates as the philanthropic arm of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Sigma Mu Zeta Chapter – Stone Mountain, GA.
