Lithonia Community Walk/Health Fair

On Oct. 5, 2013, the Greater Lithonia Chamber of Commerce (GLCC) is hosting its 1st Annual Community Walk and Health Fair in partnership with Stoneview Elementary School and the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Sigma Mu Zeta Stone Mountain Chapter.

The community walk will begin at Kaiser Permanente, located on Mall Boulevard in Lithonia, and proceed west on Mall Boulevard and then north on Evans Mill Road to Stoneview Elementary School, where the health fair will take place.

The goal of the event is to link the business and civic community with the education community in Lithonia.  We know that to foster a healthy community, we must all work together.  Therefore, the route was deliberately chosen to ensure that we pass as many businesses as possible for this particular event.

We invite the businesses, the churches, nonprofits, civic organizations, elected officials, medical professionals, and the residential community to join together in this Community effort.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The chamber has dedicated this entire month to focus on health in our community with our main focus on breast cancer and childhood obesity. We will be donating the proceeds from this event to the Stoneview Community Play area for the purchase of plastic mulch.  This mulch will create a healthier recreation environment for our children.

We have several opportunities for your involvement.  First, we need medical professionals who will offer their services during the health fair.  The health fair will be coordinated by ZPB.  We also need sponsors from the business community.  The sponsorships will be coordinated by the GLCC.  Most of all we need for you to participate in the walk.
